Tucson, AZ - March 29, 2024

Tucson Comic-Con, the Southwest's ultimate celebration of pop culture, has ignited excitement with the announcement of its 2024 guest lineup for its highly anticipated 15th-anniversary event. Scheduled to take place from August 30th to September 1st, 2024, this year's convention promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages.

The spotlight of the convention's guest announcements shines brightly on none other than the legendary Ecto-1, a tribute to the original Ghostbusters movie, masterfully crafted by the renowned artist known simply as Tattoo. With a career spanning back to 1997, Tattoo has established himself as a creative force in the realm of iconic vehicle design, and his latest creation promises to captivate attendees with its unparalleled craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Ecto-1, a resurrection of a 1963 Pontiac Bonneville hearse, has been meticulously reconstructed by Tattoo to embody the essence of the beloved Ectomobile from the Ghostbusters franchise. Drawing from extensive research and study of the classic vehicle, Tattoo has painstakingly recreated each component of the Ecto-1, employing recycled and reclaimed materials to ensure authenticity and sustainability.

What sets this rendition of the Ecto-1 apart is not only its striking visual appearance but also its functionality as an interactive experience. Powered by wind-generated energy and solar panels, the Ecto-1 boasts hand-wired systems that bring its lights, sirens, and even the mischievous Slimer to life. Attendees will have the opportunity to photograph and interact with this marvel of engineering, immersing themselves in the world of Ghostbusters like never before.

Since its inception in 2008, Tucson Comic-Con has evolved into one of the largest gatherings of pop culture enthusiasts in the region, attracting over 21,000 fans annually. More than just a convention, Tucson Comic-Con is deeply committed to community engagement, supporting local non-profits and educational initiatives throughout the year. Betty/Diane's Descent into Madness: Betty, played by Naomi Watts, represents Diane's idealized self—a hopeful and innocent aspiring actress.
