Clown in a Cornfield" Slashes Its Way into Theaters May 9 – Drive-In Sneak Peek Weekend Set for May 2–3
Horror fans, get ready to scream. Clown in a Cornfield, the blood-soaked adaptation of Adam Cesare’s award-winning novel, is charging toward a nationwide theatrical release on May 9—and it's making a sinister pit stop at drive-ins across the country for one weekend only.
Before its wide release, the highly anticipated slasher will roll out under the stars at select drive-in theaters from May 2–3, giving audiences an early—and chilling—look. Participating chains include West Wind, Four Brothers, and Galaxy, and attendees will receive a limited-edition Clown in a Cornfield poster, while supplies last. Tickets and locations are available through the film’s official drive-in page.
After its blood-spattered world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film and TV Festival, the film has already carved out critical acclaim, boasting a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With a sharp blend of small-town paranoia and pitch-black humor, the film is poised to become a modern horror favorite.
Directed by Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs Evil) and co-written with Carter Blanchard, Clown in a Cornfield features a killer ensemble cast including Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), Carson MacCormac (Shazam!), Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Will Sasso (The Three Stooges), and Kevin Durand (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes).
The story follows teenager Quinn and her father, who relocate to the seemingly peaceful town of Kettle Springs, only to find a fractured community reeling from the loss of its main industry—the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory. As resentments simmer and old wounds fester, a maniacal clown named Frendo emerges from the corn to exact his own twisted brand of justice. The results? Gory, chaotic, and gleefully terrifying.
With its mix of satirical bite, slasher tropes, and rural dread, Clown in a Cornfield invites you to a place where fun comes with a knife's edge—and the cornfields don’t just rustle with the wind.
